One of my earliest memories involving knives was my Dad telling me that one day he would give me his belt knife which just so happened to be a 1958 Russell Belt Knife, I was probably about 4 years old at the time, and was born the year the knife was produced!
The sad part is how I actually came about acquiring my Dad's knife; I confiscated it! I came by for a visit about 20 years ago and discovered his knife blade up in his shop vice! The vice jaws had cut into the blade badly; I've cleaned it up as best as possible, but it was pretty much messed up beyond repair.
Somewhere around 2004 I discovered that D.H. Russell was making a reproduction of this knife and ordered several, including one for my Dad. The following pictures are of my Dad's original 1958 model and my 2004 model. I have my Dad's 2004 model as well, just can't locate at the moment.
