Default WWII Unicorn rifle

I could have put this in the WWI & WWII thread, but I think it deserves it's own spot.

The pictures may look like a plain Jane No.4 Mk1, but in fact it is a trials rifle from the early 1930s rebuilt when Britain was short of arms after Dunkirk. It's original designation was No1 MkVI. Records suggest 1025 trials rifles were built. Whether this was one of them or built from one of the rumored spare receivers I cannot say. Note the low wall of the receiver and the relieved area underneath the safety.

My example is not entirely original, as the matching bolt is a renumbered Savage item. Whether this was done by a well meaning restorer or an armorer who had a Savage bolt handy I have no clue. I'm not too worried, I got it at the right price and I'll likely never see another in the flesh.
