The original "not black" parts, if you mean the hammer & trigger, were flash-chromed, machined carbon steel. Steel sear & disconnector, with a metal (aluminum?) plunger cup.
The newer, revised parts were black MIM, and the other black parts (slide stop lever and manual safety) became stainless MIM (which still required in-house machining after being received from outside MIM).
The disconnector and plunger cup became plastic (nylon), and the rest of the metal parts benefited from improved machining methods.
Personally, I'd be willing to pay more for the newer guns that came with MIM, as the quality of the parts was typically improved, and the MIM parts (especially the hammers) lent themselves to better, smoother trigger pulls. Then, there were the revised and improved extractors and ejectors in the new guns.
I'd not be willing to pay as much for the older guns, made using older machining and materials.
