Default Blued steel and walnut

Guns used to be almost exclusively blued carbon steel and wood for the stocks. The bluing was like art work, and the wood stocks were expertly checkered.

Those days are gone. But, I will continue to keep my steel and wood guns, and hopefully pass them down to my kids and grand kids.

Below: S&W model 15-3, Ithaca 1911 (custom), and S&W model 539.
