Thank you for the help in confirming the model and time frame of manufacture on this S&W .38 revolver. With the cylinder open, I did find "MOD 33-1" stamped inside as you had predicted.

I also found some other markings. I'm curious if these additional markings give any additional clues to narrow the year of manufacture even closer. If anyone has any information on what may be indicated by the markings displayed in the attached photograph, please let me know.

The markings appear to be: "44391 A R . 4"
