Me, I didn't fire an AR until AFTER I had built one for myself. BTW, for me the biggest attraction for the AR platform is that it's a Tinker Toy for grown ups and there is such a wide variety of options and parts available that they are like Legos in that you can build almost anything you want to build. After I did my first AR I did a bit of poking around and found that you can acually build an AR with Wood Furniture if you want and sometime down the road I may actually do one up with a wood forearm and butt stock.
