I had a similar holster once (except with exposed trigger guard), and it had the strap that fit between the rear of the slide and the hammer when the gun was carried at full cock with the safety on.
Just to see if it actually kept the hammer from falling, I put the empty pistol in the holster, put the strap in place, then pulled the trigger. Uh-oh.
The hammer made the strap slide right up over the smooth rounded back of the slide...the gun would have fired for sure. So then I just started putting the strap down below the beavertail.
