I find a vertical grip gives me much better control over the front of my AR. I don't like having to grip a rail. I find it awkward and uncomfortable. And IMO it's harder to hold the front of the rifle steady which of course is a big issue with accuracy. I wouldn't want a vertical grip on a regular Monte Carlo rifle stock but on an AR I think it's almost essential.
