Currently my only one
This is the first big bore gun that I bought when I reached legal age to do so. All I had fired before this were rimfire handguns. Shortly after buying this gun, I also bought a Lee hand reloader and started reloading for it.
After many rounds of ammo through it and many hunting trips with it on my hip, I decided to have these elephant ivory grips made for it. I purposely asked for a part of the tusk with some "bark" on it so that the striations would be visible on the grips.
I think they look great, but they are not the best for shooting anything but the lightest loads because they are so slippery. After a dozen or so heavier loads, the bottom of my trigger finger will be bleeding from contacting the trigger guard. With the wood grips, this doesn't happen.
I am currently having a .41 mag built for me for use as a hunting gun (the Ruger was my backup gun, not my hunting gun).
