OP;

That is one sweet package! They just don't come better than that in my opinion.

Interesting question regarding the case. My 29-2 with 6" bbl also came with factory case and tools, but tools were in the factory bag and inside a rectangular cutout with a tool box cover. My serial number is clearly 1980 and yours is a 1978 purchase, but your case tools are exposed in separate pockets, and the gun is pointing to the left, whereas mine the gun points to the right.

I know mine needs new flocking top and bottom but the molded plastic insert appears correct for 1980 per SCSW 4th.

Seems like a big time expensive change in case design and layout for S & W and I wonder what brought that about (left or right orientation).....maybe the change from 6-1/2" down to 6" bbl??

Just wondering but if anyone has an idea let us know.

Mine shoots just as sweet as it looks, even with full house ammo. Cost wise even though I am winding down, it looks like basic reloading 101 for me, or else the groceries may suffer when I get the urge to shoot the 29-2
