Good catch, Jack! I read straight over that upon first looking at the letter.

Copying shamelessly from Pate, this gun would have shipped on Army Contract W-19-059-ORD-2725, under which 22,659 guns (less than ordered) were delivered from Feb - May 1945. This was the last contract for new guns; the next one was cancelled.
