Real gun belt helps a lot. I believe that there are a lot of other good comments above, including good shoes, empty pockets (I wear a shoot-me vest and carry nothing in pants pockets), shoulder holster where possible, and probably exercise and competent medical help (possibly rare but definitely exists).
