Unless the threads are different, which I doubt, then yes it could be made to work. Pinned barrels had a groove cut in them (as Toolman pointed out). Cutting a groove would require all of about 10 minutes on a mill, or better yet, simply drill the barrel after it's fitted and put in the pin.
