I had been shooting competitive smallbore and air rifle as a kid since the 1970s. When I decided to shoot pistol (this was in Canada....gun laws, etc) I had to join a certified club. I went to observe a Bullseye match where they fired two National match courses (one with 22, one with centerfire). When they switched to the second course, this big Micmac Indian and his friend pulled out a M29 and M27 respectively. They had them loaded down a bit, but there was no mistaking them as shooting 38 wadcutters.
The second club I visited was similar. There were three guys that shot 44s for bullseye, one with a 29, one with a then brand new 629, and one with an old model Blackhawk.
Thanks to them, the first pistol I ever bought was a S&W 29. I still have it. It's had two rebuilds, but is still going strong. I have no plans to ever be without it.

To the OP:
You never know.... You may have changed the course of that young guy's life!

Kudos to you!

Jim
