There were no left over slides. Germans made them as they went. In other words they didn't have surplus parts. They continued to stamp W. Germany because even though the country was now unified manufacturing was still segregated. Everyone was still manufacturing to the standards they were used to. Sig kept the W. Germany markings to signify that the guns were still made in original factories to Western standards
