Sevens pretty much answered as I would. I'd not trust the factory to do work of this type on a valuable gun. Even though it was made by them.

I also agree about wanting to use a local(ish) shop if possible. Not that it happens often, but guns do sometimes end up lost, stolen, or misdirected.

If you have well regarded smiths in your area, then it's worth consulting with them.
