I'm not really up on all of the permutations of the Model 1891 (both .22 and .38) but wasn't the Mexican Model serialized in with the 3rd Model?
Was it late , early, of spread out over the total production run?
Point being that the Mexican model already had mods being done to the hammer, (i.e. the hammer "ears"). Would it be reasonable that they decided that while they were in there to do away with the half cock at the same time?
