Default Except for Cowboy guns.......

When a lot of us hear 'gun', we picture a model 10 or a Colt Detective. It was a standard beginning in about 1900

There were variations on the the theme, barrels, sights, grips, etc. but the model 10 was the basis.

Though it was displaced as the standard starting in the 1980s, it's still an icon and many people still know it.

All that aside, the model 10 quickly became a gun that needed no improvements. It was something that was actually perfected a long time ago. Changes were minor and later more as cost cutting rather than needed modifications.
