The 1st time I saw the video, there was no Audio, but watching the crowd, nobody scattered when the pistol hit the floor. People didn't scatter until After he ineptly reached for it, apparently put his finger into the trigger guard and negligently tripped the trigger.

He was obviously more interested in quickly scooping it up and getting it out of sight, than he was in picking it up safely.
