It's very fortunate that they had a firearm and knew how to use it, this is why our Second Amendment rights must be fought for so vigorously, not to mention why more folks ought to be properly educated about firearms rather than spoon-fed anti-gun rhetoric and taught to view firearms as inherently evil instruments of terror/destruction. If more folks had a healthy, unbiased attitude towards firearms, then we'd likely hear a lot most stories with endings such as this.
