Seems to me the best place to carry/secure a loaded gun is on your person.

By storing a loaded firearm in your car or truck you create a couple of potential problems......one (or more) for you and one (or more) for law enforcement.
The problem for you is that the gun in your truck may be used against you and your loved ones when it is taken from the vehicle. There are also some civil liability issues concerning improperly stored/secured firearms in your car or in your home.

The problems for law enforcement include having the firearm used against them when they respond to a crime in progress run, or if the stolen gun is used in the commission of a crime later. (I have personally seen this happen many times)

Many people argue that they are not responsible for the potential events that happen as a result of someone taking their firearm that happens to be secured in their vehicle. Small consolation when one of your family members or a police officer has been injured or killed, and the injury or death could have been prevented by the proper storage of the gun in the first place.

Just because you are free to "legally" do something, doesn't mean it's a good practice.
