I'm not from Ca., but made several trips there a number of years ago. One of the best (IMO) seafood restaurants I have ever eaten at is called Gladstones. It is located at the junction of Sunset Blvd. and PCH 1. Not cheap, but not outrageous either. Just Google "Gladstones Restaurant". They have been there for over 50 years.
