I agree they are NOT range guns, that is why (at least for me) I don’t use them as “range guns”.
I have 2 642’s, first purchased about 20 or so years ago (I believe about 1996-1998) and they are still going.
Of course I also have a couple of 640’s that I use to take some “wear and tear” off the 642’s, yet function basically the same, just a bit heavier.
So yes, I agree with you, in that if you want the 642 to be your “range gun”, that you will likely be better served by another handgun.
