One of the new Marlin 1894 [Remlin] in 44 magnum. Just got to shoot it last weekend. Seems Remington has improved on the wood to metal fit and the gun fed and extracted shells OK. Finish applied to wood and bluing is sure lacking compared to the older Marlin made gun. Gun did group decent at 50 yards with the 240 grain Winchester ammo we were using. Also got to try a Savage 111 in 25-06 with synthetic stock and matte finish bluing which did produce decent groups but bolt was not so slick being a new gun perhaps. Not as eye catching as the walnut and high polish blue many of us are used to from years back but functional and utilitarian looking. Friend just bought a Ruger American in .270 Win. with stainless barrel. Looking forward to seeing this one in a few days.
