I have a lot of experience with the Massachusetts M&P triggers, and they are horrible. I cannot recommend anyone to get one unless they are required to do so by some regulation.

The general specification for Massachusetts triggers is that they must be over 10lb. The Massachusetts M&P triggers are usually well over 10lb, and I suspect the design was planned so that even after being broken in by lots of use, the triggers will still weigh over 10lb.

With that said, there is significant variation between individual guns. Some of the Mass M&P pistols are just a bit over 10lb and have a marginally acceptable feel. Other Mass pistols have over 12lb pull and feel like they are scraping through gravel. I would not buy one of these triggers unless I could handle it first. But if you get the chance to handle a few of them, you might find one that is vaguely acceptable.

Everyone who really wants to shoot an M&P pistol in Massachusetts gets an Apex kit. That is perfectly legal after you own the pistol, but a dealer in Mass cannot sell it to you that way.

Regarding the OP's question, you might talk to a gunsmith who knows these pistols about whether one spring or other part from a Massachusetts trigger could be used to increase your trigger weight a bit. But I definitely could not recommend getting a fully Massachusetts spec trigger.
