The Model 10-6, a heavy-barrel iteration of the Military & Police line, was made from 1962 to 1977. The serial puts your gun likely in 1977, near the end of the model and the switch to the 10-8.

It was probably the most widely used police revolver of its time, although yours appears to be the nickel-finished version, which is much less common than the blued one.

Hard to make any definite judgment from one photo, but it looks to be in great shape.
