Also to improve function. And this doesnt really apply to revolvers but you really want your defense guns to look classy and not menacing should they be used as evidence in front of a jury.

Good point! I was not thinking about how a jury might perceive the look of a gun. It just shows the multitude of factors that we have to consider when carrying guns for protection.
The perceptions of revolvers as less menacing/dangerous, despite that being different from reality, is something I have heard others discuss as well. I do, when money allows, want to buy more guns for defensive uses, rather than target shooting, so do you have any thoughts about things to consider when I eventually make the jump into semi-auto pistols being in the same rotation as revolvers?
