I have checked out the spec's on the ruger gp-100 and the S&W N-frame . The stainless Ruger , 4" barrel in 357 weighs 40 ounces . A S&W 629 , 44 magnum is 41.5 ounces . I realize it's comparing a 357 to a 44 mag. After the conversion the ruger would be slightly lighter with some metal being removed . The N-frame would be slightly heavier as there is a touch more metal in the 41 vs the 44 . But when it's done , is there really much difference in weight ? Very little ! There is a bit of a size difference but is it really enough to justify the expense ? Again , I decided it didn't . YMMV . Regards, Paul
