I deer hunt with my 460 it has the 8 3/8 barrel, compensated. Recoil with the 240 jhp compares to just a little heavier than my 629 8 inch 44; compensator tones it down recoil wise.. but ya better own a good set of muffs if you want to hear tomorrow, very good caliber, 454 casull shoots like a 357, very tame
