I pretty much always carried a back-up gun when still working, plus a knife, although the knife was more tool than weapon. I did also carry a boot knife for a while but gave that up as it never seemed secure enough for running or struggling with a resisting subject on the ground. I still carry a knife, but still see it as more tool than weapon. I really don't see how people can function in daily life without a knife of some sort. But I no longer carry back-up gun.

I guess I should clarify. I never carried a 2nd gun off duty even when I worked as a LEO. My off duty gun was usually my on duty BUG.
