Like raljr1, I was also way late to the 1911 party. I bought my first one in February of 18, an ATI military style 5" FX-45. It's a surprisingly good gun, especially for the money I paid for it. It sold me on the 1911 platform. I probably have 3000-3500 rounds through it now.
In March of this year, I decided to splurge and get myself a high end 1911 and decided to go with an Alchemy Custom Weaponry Prime Elite, built either by Rob Schauland or under his supervision. I wanted a traditional looking 5" blue finish gun with no rails or other stuff and boy did he deliver. It shoots so sweet and is definitely more accurate than me.
Since I got in in late April I have shot around 1000 rounds through it. It's definitely been one of my favorite guns to bring to the range lately.
