I use the Blackhawk alaska guide holster as my go to rig. The 5" fits quite nicely and totally covered. The muzzle of my 6.5" is exposed.

If I had to pick just one 629 to own, it would be a hard choice between the 5" and the 6.5". Currently carry a 629-5 6.5" w/ powerport for those pesky whitetails that wonder within 40 yards of my treestand. The 6.5" is slightly muzzle heavy, but the extra 1.5" does have some advantages. The 5" is just easier to carry and would be the choice for daily carry. I shoot both well. All my 629s like the Sierra 210 JHP over a modest load of Enforcer and average 1.5" or less @ 50 yards. Good middle of the road bullet weight for deer that has plenty of penetration for whitetails, modest recoil, yet doesn't beat the gun up.
