I was about 10 when i asked my dad if I could get (my first) ever gun magazine; a mid 1990s issue of Guns Magazine featuring the Smith & Wesson 640 in .357 mag (I have the issue stored away somewhere but can’t remember the exact date.)
That, along with the Kahr K9 (new at the time) became the two handguns I wanted most and hoped to have one day.
It wasn’t until 2019 that I would pick up my first J frame.
It was a used 642pc in the consignment rack at my favorite shop. I used it for my first IDPA Match last year; wasn’t fast by any means but it sure was a blast. The five shots was limiting but was nonetheless absolute fun.
A couple of months ago I was in the shop just to say hi and see what they had mid-pandemic, and they had a consigned 340 on the back counter.
I’ve yet to shoot it but am already wondering if I should get some Culina boot grips for it...and maybe some rubber ones too.
Still have no early .357 640 though. Same for a K9...
