I carried a full sized 1911 built by Armand Swensen, for over 40 years. It was built on a commercial Gov't made by Colt's in 1962. On duty, off duty it went with me very where. I continued to teach at a police academy long after retirement and that old "hog" and I did a lot of demos for new recruits. It never let me down. It has a Barsto barrel and the day I retired it would still shoot tiny little "knotholes" in a target and ringing a steel pepper popper at 100 yards was boring. I was a gunsmith long before I was a cop so I built a lot of guns over the years including PPC revolvers and 1911s. When "Ralph" as my kids used to call the Gov't model, finally retired so did I. So I built my retirement carry gun, which was a Colt Commander. Still a heavy chunk of steel but I don't mind. I just walk with a little list to one side after all these years but figure it's too late to straighten it out now.
