Auction sites are plagued with shill bidders and gone broker is infamous for pretend auctions. The shills buy from themselves so when they actually sell one the buyer is fooled into believing an outrageous bid is a whole lot lower than a recent actual sale. All they have to do is claim their shell bidder never paid then their fees are waived.
