I had successfully convinced myself I didn’t need a S&W semi-auto until I inherited this 39-2 I had found for Dad and begun to personalize for him. Like a case of poison ivy, they kinda creep up on you and get a good hold.

That being said, this is a 60 year old design at its base, and even the later variations have been out of production for about 30 years... it’s a classic old design, but an old design nonetheless. I’ve come to the game late, but I’m a serious convert. To keep the heirloom 39-2 safe I built a semi-custom 639 for “every day” use. I guess that speaks for itself.
