I don't have any Smiths with a cockeyed hammer but I do have a couple of Colts that have modified hammers. This is a .38 Special New Service that someone has extended the hammer on, obviously not King. The addition and checkering is a bit crude, and the underside welding hasn't been cleaned up.
I also have a Colt Officers Model .38 Special with a King-like rib, but it isn't marked anywhere. The hammer has been extended both in length and width and is nicely done.
