Here is the holster that started my obsession. I was in a LGS and saw a posted flyer advertising a gun auction at a local auction house that happened to start in 30 minutes. The auction house was less than 5 miles away. I decided on a whim to check it out since I had never been to one before.
When I arrived, I quickly looked at some of the things for sale. I had been a lurker here for a while, and noticed there was a holster, in a glass display case with some other accessories, that looked like some I had seen on this forum before. There was not a way for me to actually hold the holster because the auction was beginning. The visible tag said it fit a Colt SAA. I had one of those, and the holster looked like it would fit my 5 1/2 inch barrel. As the old saying goes, "if I knew then what I know now", I would have bid on quite a few things. After about 90 minutes, the holster came up. I opened the bidding at $15. Another savvy bidder bid $20. I am thinking here we go, the start of a bidding war! I bid $25 and then silence. I WON!! I paid for the holster and carried it out to my truck. It was a Heiser Model 719 holster, but on the back of the holster was etched SW K22. I figured SW meant Smith & Wesson and had no idea what K22 was!
As soon as I got home, I got on the forum and found out what I had. The only problem was the $25 deal I got on the holster cost me thousands more. I mean I had to buy a gun to fit the holster!
So I bought a K22 Outdoorsman and 2 K22 Masterpieces........and many more holsters!
