Until the L frames came out in 1980, all S&Ws chambered for the .357 Magnum had counter-bored cylinders

Your revolver has three screws in the sideplate. One is hiding under the stocks. The mainspring tension screw does not count as a frame screw.

All S&W revolvers with model numbers beginning with 6 have stainless steel frames.
