We also trained with the M14 in boot camp. At ITR were used M1's to rain. After that I was always issued M14's until my release from active duty. Did fam fire a AR 15 while in Vietnam. They took us out to some sand dunes and let us fire a magazine worth of rounds. That was our introduction the the AR 15. Kept my M14 with me at all times and regularly cleaned. Really liked that rifle. It would be nice to own one again.
Unfortunately there are not many transferable M-14s out there.
