I swapped my 6906 hammer a little over a year ago. Wanted a hammer I could thumb cock. The one I bought (39? 59? I'm not sure) had the long strut. I did not want to swap in the 6906 strut. I need to keep the original parts original. I scribed the 6906 strut length and shape onto the new one. A few passes on a grinder and the polishing brush, cutting it to fit, it works fine.
