There is an extensive article on 32-20 reloading by Brian Pearce in the April, 2023 journal. A ton of reloading recipes for revolvers from 86 grains to 125 grains and a myriad of powders listed. There have been some threads about proper reloading of this caliber in the past and the article will answer many questions one might have.

In this issue, you will find an article on handloading the 38-40 for revolvers as well. Other calibers include an article by Mike Venturino on 45 Colt & Schofield in six-guns, 357 Magnum for S&W Model 627, plus some other calibers.

Check it out at your local stores. Worth the price.
 
Been sitting out on the patio in the sun, reading this issue of Handloader. Good articles about several areas of interest to me. At one time I subscribed to a dozen different firearm publications. Now I have whittled those down to Handloader & American Rifleman.
 
Yep, this issue is one of the best they've put out in a while. Rifle Magazine of late....not so much, for me at least.
 
I grab Handloader every few issues. And about once a year I pick up a "Black Powder Cartridge." I pick up "Christian Archeologist" every few years, Historical Views that the media just refuses to talk about!

I wish that the full run of Handloaders’ Digest was available in a digital version like Gun Digest is. Maybe it is, but if so, I have not seen it. I have about half of the hard copy editions between the first and eighteenth, but they take up too much shelf space. There is an enormous amount of reloading information for oddball, uncommon, and obsolete cartridges to be found in them. As well as for more common calibers.

I think I have HANDLOADER back to '66 but a few of the early copies are missing. Well worth keeping, unlike most of the others magazines, but it's not easy to find a certain article.
 
The 32-20 is my favorite cartridge. My eye caught his comment about being used as a deer cartridge. At least it was until the Internet ‘xperts and gun ‘riters came along and told us it was to small and weak to kill deer.

But nowadays the same Internet ‘xperts and gun ‘riters tell us that the.223/5.56 is a good deer cartridge.

I have two single action 32-20’s and scout the gun shows for a Colt Police Positive Special 32-20. My favorite one is a Uberti 1873 Carbine. It is accurate and great varmint gun.

I have never seen the need for jacketed bullets and use the same
lead bullet and powder charge in all three guns.

Ken published articles for the 32-20 covering both revolvers and rifles. I can pm the data over the weekend if you’d like.
 
I like the 32-20, the big problem is that, as far as I have been able to find, brass is "unobtainable". Starline brass is great, but they say it is not available for backorder. I searched for a few hours one day trying to find brass from any of the big suppliers with no luck. Did find a private seller that was willing to part with 100 rds new brass....for $250 shipped...I passed.

Ken Waters handloading articles remain among the very best. While those .32-20 articles are both pretty old, each has a good bit of data that would still be useful today.
 
I have every issue of Handloader. The first few issues used a textured paper for the covers. I guess I'm just a collector of too many things. I also have every issue of the American Rifleman from 1926 to date. Storage does become a problem after a while ;-)
 
Handloader Magazine is about the only magazine that I keep every issue and have 2 filing cabinet drawers full of almost every past issue . The other magazines I get are filled with semi-auto plastic gun articles , and are of no real interest to me . I look through them, and drop off 'em at the local gun club for others to check out. Think I need to start thinning the herd, a bit, lol !
