I was busy the past few weeks, but I did had some time to study up on wrist watches. I wanted a solid watch that can take a beating, looks and feels good and doesn't break the bank. I think I found it in
Raven Watches, LLC!
A couple weeks ago I received their "Airfield" model and I love it. It has a
40mm case,
316L stainless steel,
sapphire single dome with AR coating on the inside,
Seiko NH38 automatic movement,
printed dial with raised logo and superluminova X1 blue lume,
and 200 meter water resistance!
They are semi-custom, since you have a few options when it comes to the dial, date/no date, bands, and the three hands.
Raven is an American company. The case is made in China (but the town it's made in is so close to Hong Kong that I can accept that). The movement is a proven Seiko automatic (Japan), and I can accept that too when it comes to watches.
Why put a book in a watch/equipment picture you ask? Well, it might be kind of weird, but I asked myself what would Blaine McCracken or one of his friends wear when in the field, and I do think he, or one of his friends, would wear this Raven Airfield watch. I need to ask Jon Land, he might know.
Blaine McCracken is a fictional character, but he's based on a very real Vietnam veteran. They needed equipment that works, no frills, no gimmicks. I think this watch delivers just that.
I'm very satisfied with it, so please check it out and see the full specs on their website at

I also found a very affordable (and dirty) Nikon Macro lens, I received it yesterday and here's what I can do with it so far:
