What are the differences between Civilian and Law Enforcement M&P models?

I had two M&P "LE" guns I bought in 2008. A 40 full size and a 40c. I still have the full size. At that time LE guns were in a black case and non LE's were in a blue case. There were rumors that the LE guns were being cherry picked for better triggers. Of course that caused a lot of arguing and bickering as you can imagine. :D

I never paid any attention to it until I bought a Performance Center Pro Series C.O.R.E in 9mm in 2016 to use as a target gun. It's trigger was terrible compared to my LE guns, I had to put an Apex Trigger in it for it to be usable for a target gun.

I recently picked up an M&P 9 2.0 with the 4" barrel on GB that was made in Feb 2021 and was told that it was an LEO trade in. Not sure how to check if it was or not. I asked S&W all they could or would tell me was when it was made. Whoever had it surely did not shoot it much as the slides look like new with very little wear. All I got was pistol and 1 mag, no box, no extra back straps.

It does shoot very well though.

About $100.00. :)

That's about right! I had a 1st gen Blue Label M&P .45 police trade-in...extra mag and night sights were the only differences from a civilian version besides the discount. Beretta also does Blue Label for LE/Military. Just bought a new A300 Ultima Patrol LE shotgun...only difference besides the discount was a fixed MC choke; civilian model has removable IC choke tube and wrench. Don't be afraid of police trade-ins. They're usually well maintained and not shot too often, but may have finish wear. Good luck!

If a firearm is agency marked, it is easy to tell if it is a LE trade in. Speaking for myself, I only mark items as LE trade ins if my suppliers sell them to me as such. One supplier I use often is a large police supply company, so basically everything I get from them is a LE trade in. But, even then, they usually don't give further information to me such as which department it came from.

If a supplier doesn't tell me a gun is a LE trade in, then I just sell it as a general used gun.

I have a M/P 9 L/E package came with a PVD flat black finish over the Melonite finish 3 , mags and Night sights , has a different sku than a standard model , had all the updates , newer renforched slide stop , 2 dimple under the barrel , , I never found out who these were made for . I bought it a few years back from L/E dist ,
