I picked up several out-the front (OTF) knives in recent weeks, all Microtech until yesterday. Microtech makes an array of high-quality knives but, like Smith & Wesson, it is not the only game in town. Research and discussion lead me to Guardian Tactical. It is an American company that makes high-quality OTF knives. Lots of excellent reviews and comparisons online.
The Guardian Tactical OTF action is smoother and lighter than Microtech. Guardian Tactical uses ceramic bearings on polished steel below the thumbpiece and other internal tweaks to reduce friction. Fit and finish is excellent. Guardian Tactical OTFs come in several sizes, finishes, and blades, like Microtech. This Recon 35 is similar to Ultratech size. The cost is about the same or maybe tracking just below, Microtech. This Recon 35 was $290.00.
Again, lots of good Guardian Tactical reviews and videos online. I'll keep it short. That said, I welcome others' experiences with Guardian Tactical, photos, etc.
Next to a Microtech Ultratech Bounty Hunter for comparison.

Here are a few of the Microtech Ultratech Bounty Hunter. Interesting finish.
