I've thought similarly.
Only that the cartridge should be a bit longer to get up into the 1500 fps range and ease reloading.
The economy of such a cartridge to the reloader would be great.
But the problem remains that it has to survive the market.
In a recent haul of range brass, the lions share was 9mm, followed by 223.
40 and 45 had near equal representation with 38 special taking 4 th place.
Such things as the 32 or 30 super carry didn't show at all.
9mm even beat out 22 LR by a very wide margin.
It just has to place to get in the race
