The 617-4 was the only prelock 10-shot 617 made w/ a steel cylinder. Only made for a few months as I recall before it was replaced by the 617-5, which had the lock.

Mechanically excellent. Crisp light trigger. Lockup shows just the slightest bit of movement. No endplay, timing right. Cosmetically the only thing worth mentioning is the fact that the original owner, in his attempt to justify his "unfired" description apparently scraped a little carbon off the front of the cylinder. Doesn't show in the photos but there are faint marks suggesting this, also under the top strap.
