The mahogany presentation case replaced the dark blue/black presentation case in the spring of 1960 so 44 Magnums stamped MOD-29 in the yoke cut would have been shipped in a mahogany case until 62-63 when the Model 29-1 and later the Model 29-2 were introduced. Prior to this time, 44 Magnums (model number or not) shipped in dark blue/black cases with a blue satin lining.

When the 44 Magnum/Model 29 with an 8 3/8-inch barrel was introduced in late 1958, it was shipped in a mahogany case with a cloth interior. This style of case was also used on a very limited basis for other barrel lengths.

The correct accessories for these guns are a sight screwdriver with a knurled aluminum handle (the all steel sight screwdriver finished in black oxide predates the 44 Magnum and is not correct), a cotton swab with a brass threaded base, and an aluminum cleaning rod with a brush attached (copper bristles with a brass wound core).
