I've never understood the logic behind the 547 revolver. S&W had solved the problem of shooting rimless cartridges in revolvers in 1917 by head-spacing cylinders, and made it better with the use of moonclips, then around 1980 they came out with the 547. This revolver has a fairly complicated and somewhat fragile extractor. It always seemed to be the solution to a problem that didn't exist.
