The devices that the insurance companies offer don't technically track your location, but instead look for instances of hard acceleration and hard braking. They already know where you live and the general areas you drive just by giving them your address.

Several insurance companies offer to reduce your rate based on your credit score (or they did at one time), reasoning that if someone was careful enough to build up a good credit score then they weren't a crazy driver.

The way our auto insurance rates have been climbing these past few years you would think I was driving a Bentley or a Ferrari instead of a pick up truck...
